B is for Bondage
From TSade
When I picked up B is for Bondage, I was actually expecting much of the same type of stories as in A is for Amour, which I only read two days before. However, after the first story, I realized I was more than wrong and by the third one, I had to admit that I like bondage a hell of a lot more than just love. But, knowing my personality, this makes sense.
B is for Bondage, edited by Alison Tyler, is the second in a series of what I assume is 26 books. No idea what Z is going to be, but I'm looking forward to finding out. I got the book from a "comment for a chance to win" and my copy has this perfectly little kiss stamp and signature on it, which just makes me smile when I look at it. It is a small book at 138 pages, but it packs a lot of punch for its smallness. Like the others in its serious, I absolutely love the typesetting in the book, the fonts are remarkable from most of the books I've read and really set the mood for enjoying it.
The entire series is a collection of short stories, all following the theme of the book. In this case, I felt the themes were a bit more into the D/s and SM relationships, in addition to bondage, but since those are so closely tied, it didn't really detract from enjoying the story. And, this book did get a few flames going inside me, mainly because of the topic.
- Silver Bells and Cockleshells by Shanna Germain: This was the story that started the entire book with an amazing rush of excitement. It had some of my favorite themes, though I have no clue what the title has to do with the rest of the story. But, there is vegetables and bondages, romance and excitement, bondage of the body and of relationships. This was one of those stories I had to put the book down to frig myself, so it was the absolutely best introduction I could have.
- Transfixed, Helpless and Out of Control: Election Night 2004 by Charlie Anders: This was a playful story, more so with watching the events that happened after the 2004 election. I loved the story and yet hated the thought of how much if it seemed to have come true. A great bondage story, sad politics.
- Pervertable by Mathilda Madden: Oh... yummy. This had all the build-up of anticipation, a threat of so many wonderful things in this bondage. And, it had the sweetest that I loved so much, I put it into The Mummy's Girl, so many years ago: bondage marks picked by the submissive. But, this was the second story I read that I had to put down, it left such a rush through me as I could picture each and every scene.
- Shinju by Teresa Noelle Roberts: I don't care about the Romance market as a whole, but I love romance in stories. This was one of them, a careful layering of story, excitement, and exhibitionism that lead into the sweetest of endings.
- Time for Spanking by Sara DeMuci: A very short, but exciting story. A little scene that packs so much into it. I wasn't really turned on, but I loved the relationship shown in this story.
- The Pillar of St. Vitus by L. A. Mistral: Finding the faith, in a way, a great little theme and a short story that combines that with an illicit little scene in a church. Lovely.
- Pearls of Wisdom by Cynthia Rayne: This was a sad story, a very, very sad story. Lovely, artistic, and gorgeous. But sad. It made me cry at the end, not because of the hot bondage, the knife play, or anything else, but the realizations that came at the end. The brutal way that it just stopped on it. Is is also the only story I read three times, just because it felt so good to hurt that much.
- The Consequences of Her Actions by Charles Brasso: Another yummy story, the setting of the scene worked perfectly with how it ended. The knocking down of someone, out of love not viciousness, this is a highly recommended story in this book.
- Westbound by P. S. Haven: One thing after the other, is probably the best way of describing it. A foolish turn for the main character, but the situation she gets into is playful and teasing, with just the right heat of a desert to really get a flush on my cheeks.
- Promise of Submission by T. C. Calligari: Another artistic story, but down to earth. Kind of surreal in how it is presented, it is a tale of someone realizing how much they crave bondage and the enigmatic person who gives it to them. I liked it for the surrealism, it wasn't ethereal but it was just on the edge of "what's next" that I devoured it.
- Good Marketing by Bryn Haniver: This is a playful sci-fi type of story. I thought it was very surreal, but not like the Promise above. Instead, I found it rather broken up and not really exciting for me. I like the end and there were one or two scenes I started to get into, but they just passed too fast to really appreciate.
- Safe by Alison Tyler: I like any story with Jack. Jack is one of those things I both want and want to be. This story is just like that, a test of trust and faith that Alison has always shown in her own stories.
This book is more in line with my own tastes and preferences. It got me more than hot and flush and is exactly the type of book I look forward to re-reading in the years to come. I highly recommend it if you enjoy bondage, a bit of D/s and a bit of SM. Oh, and the vegetables. Definitely a re-readable book in my library.
